Once your LO started walking, how long did it take for them to be confident and always walking? DD seems so awkward and unsteady even though she has been walking for about a month.
probably a good 2 months, maybe 3 before there was full confidence. even now he trips and falls a lot lol, but confidence wise, he's full blown invincible lol!

My son started walking about a week before his first birthday, but took about a month to really get confident on his feet. He has been walking for about two months now and is doing really great. I'd give her a month or two.
First steps completely on her own were Dec 26th then confident 2-4 foot distance about two weeks later, full confidence no matter the distance 2 weeks after that. My LO is a VERY determined child and when she sets her mind to something, she is going to do it no matter the number of bruises she gets. LO had so many bruises that I fully expected to meet CPS one day at pick up from daycare. To her benefit, LO had a helmet for plagiocephaly which provided some head protection for falling.
I would say it took about a month for DD to get steady on her feet and another month until she stopped walking like a zombie and started paying attention to where she was going (ie walking around instead of into stuff). But by another month after that, she was running and hasn't slowed down since!
DD has been walking for about 3 weeks and I was just telling my dad's neighbor that she is on a roll. She still falls but she would much rather walk than crawl. She is very determined and strong willed like in a pp. She hasn't had a lot of bruises or anything but I'm not looking forward to the day she starts running until I drop this load. GL

DD started taking steps at 11.5 months. I certainly did not consider her a walker at that point because she would take maybe 3 steps every two days or so. At exactly 13 months, she just got up that morning and decided she was going to walk full time. Just now at 15 months though, is she confident enough to walk fast and is starting to run a little.
DD took her first steps on January 29th, but didn't really start walking until the weekend after Valentine's Day. Even then, she'd walk if I stood her up, or if she pulled up on something, but she couldn't stand up unassisted, so walking wasn't always her main method of getting where she wanted to go. Last weekend (March 18/19) she finally figured out how to stand up unassisted and now she's almost always walking.
So, it's been about two months since her fist 3 steps. She still "toddles", but she's definitely improving every day. She actually has really good balance and I've seen her correct herself many times, before actually falling over. I think it's only a matter of weeks before she's running, lol!
B was confident from the get-go. That's not to say he should have been, he fell a lot, but he hated crawling so once he started walking he did it as much as possible. That was at about 10.5 months, and he was walking full time by his birthday.
Contemplating the snow.

It took about a month for us. He started it at 13 months but wasn't doing it all the time until a little over 14 months. We took him to the mall during the day (when it's dead) and he got a lot of practice in there. I really think that helped him "speed things up," if that makes sense.
Well, since DS waited until 17 months to walk, he became a full-time walker immediately. He looked like he had been walking for months from the get-go. They need to build up their muscles, especially their core muscles to help with balance. It just takes time.
