Wow......
Anyways, OP- I had mine out before I was having children. But I had the surgery on a friday and resumed college classes on monday and tuesday. I just had to take things slower than normal but I stayed home over the weekend to rest then had my boyfriend (now DH) drive me back the University a couple of hours away on Sunday night.
Granted at that time I could do a lot more resting than I would now with a toddler running around. But do what the doctor says as far as lifting instructions and really follow their suggestions. Last thing you want to do is be re-admited b/c you tried to do too much too soon.
I had major abdominal surgery 2 months ago and my doc said as long as I waited until I was off any anti-biotics or meds before getting pregnant then we could start right away. However b/c of how extensive my surgery was we're still going to wait a few months just to be safe.
If your surgery was laproscopic I'd try to give it at the minimum a couple of months so your body can heal on the inside. Remember how tired you are first tri? So I'd try to minimize any of that by waiting a couple of months and then go ahead as long as your DR gives you the okay. Max I'd say you'd have to wait is 6 months, but I'm not a doctor
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon! I've unfortunately had many surgeries in my young age and by far the easiest was the galbladder removal! But you have to take your time and let your SO help out with the baby as much as possible! Don't overdo it!!
Day 4 was the end of the bad days for me. On day 5 I felt almost myself again, just a little more tender. I have no idea how long it'll take to get pregnant again since I had mine out about 4 months postpartum and didn't start trying again until recently.
It also depends on if you had it out lacroscopically (with the several small incisions) or regular. Mine was lacroscopic and I've heard regular is much worse.
Thanks everyone... I was told by today I should be better. But I still don't feel like myself.... Yes I asked the doc but just wanted to know what you were told... I was told I could get pg by 4 weeks.
I asked my sister who is a nurse. She says it is better to wait at least six months after a surgery to get pregnant due to all the healing your body does inside. You never know how the healing is doing on the inside(even if you feel better). Healing your body all the way is the best thing to do before getting pregnant because it can prevent issues with the baby such as birth defects and/or complications while pregnant. All doctors will say something different, but healing longer is better for you and the future baby. Waiting 6 months wont hurt unless your in a rush for some reason.
I had mine out before getting pregnant. I got an infection so it took a little longer to recover. (I doubt that is typical.) In regards to getting pregnant, I also asked my doctor, who told me as soon as I recovered I could try. I had the surgery in Feb, began trying in March, had a MC in April, and got pregnant with DS in May. Good luck!

I had mine out when DS was 6 months old. I had it out on a Friday and was able to do some things on my own by Monday. I only picked him up when he absolutely needed me to. Since DH had to be back to work I didn't really have much choice but to do it on my own.
I have a physical job (xray tech at a Children's hospital) and I was back to work 6 day after having surgery. I limited pushing, pulling and lifting at work for about another week and then felt back to normal physically.
I can't answer your question about pregnancy because I haven't been pregnant since getting it out.
