No recording devices in U/S?

Ok so this is a new thing to me. With my first two I didn't even think to record the us. Now, I would like to have some video since it's my last and we'll be finding out. At the nt scan I saw this posted and wondered why? And I did look into a seperate u/s place nut it is $175 for one and I think that is ridiculous! Anyone know the reasoning behind this policy.

It is a privacy thing.  They do not want to risk that you accidentally videotape other proprietary information that might be in the room.

My MFMs office had signs clearly posted about no video or audio recording.

I had my elective ultrasound done for way less than $175, I would shop around.

  • With DD they recorded our u/s, they even told us to be sure and bring a DVD to use.  So with this one I came prepared but they don't allow it due to hospital policy and no recording devices either.  They cut our name off of the u/s pics as well so it is for legal reasons so we can't sue if they miss something IMO.

  • Makes sense I guess. I will look mod I just googled whatwas around here and only one place came up. Seems most ppl go fir $75 or so on here, way more reasonable. Thanks girls!
  • The place I'm going to has 3 prices, for 3 different types of U/S.  The rates are $39, $79, and $109.  The cheapest is 2D, then 3D, then the last one is a longer 3D session and includes more pics/video etc.

  • I am not sure about the u/s room at our OB's office, I don't remember seeing signs in there. But at the other place we go, that my OB sends patients to for Level 2 u/s, they clearly have signs posted that no audio/video recording of u/s is allowed. Not sure why, on the audio.

  • My DH recorded all of the ultrasounds so far. My doc even waited for him to be ready to record and kind of explained what we were looking at, so that he could catch it on camera. My doc also held my cellphone's video camera next to the doppler, to record the heartbeat (on a non-US visit).
  • My OB let us record the 1st time we heard the baby's heartbeat, but only after she a. found it, and b. made sure it was nice and strong.

I called my u/s office and they too told us no recording. I was bummed but I understand :/ I think it's so that if any thing (god forbid) is wrong, you won't have it look back on. At least that's just what my 1st  thought was after seeing what my OB did.
