Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Is there a big difference between 24 mo and 2T?

DS is in 18 mo clothes now. I wanted to buy his swim trunks in 24 mo but the pair I like only comes in 2T. Do you think this would work?

  • I have found that 2T tend to be longer. The shirts are longer in the torso and the pants are longer. See if you can compare a 24m and 2T together to see the length difference. But I bet he would be fine.

  • About an inch or so difference. Not a lot but noticeable.  2T is slightly bigger than 24m.

  • I had just compared the two at Target....it was a boy's T shirt and they were exactly the same size.

    I am so confused!

  • DD is just now outgrowing her 24 mo so I'm in the process of sorting this out. In some brands, the size difference is so minimal that I'm buying 2Ts that barely fit. In other brands, there is a noticeable step up from 24 mo to 2T and there is no way that DD could wear 3T in that brand. I've found it most helpful to look at the weight/height listed on the tag to determine the best fit until I get a good feel for how that particular brand fits. For swim trunks in general though, I would think you're probably safe buying big, though they may be a little long.
