Ear infection question

No luck with Amoxicillin or Augmentin (sp?), and I'm so incredibly frustrated.  Is this typical?  This is DS's first ear infection and I can not believe he is still battling it.  I feel so terrible for him.  I will be bringing him back to the pediatrician tomorrow am, but am just curious if others experienced this?  I just assumed that if the first antibiotic didn't work maybe the second would.  No such luck. :(

Re: Ear infection question

  • Omnicef, also, did they give you the ear numbing drops?

  • There are some antibiotics that don't work on DS. How long has your LO been on the meds?

My DS either had seven infections from October through January or it was one long one that never really cleared and the poor kid was every ear med under the sun. Good luck!

  • I'm sorry your son is still having trouble with the ear infection...

They will probably try either Omnicef next, or an antibiotic injection to knock out the ear infection (that is what we would do at our office at this point- I'm a Pedi. RN). I hope he feels better soon.

  • Omnicef is all that works for DS1 and the numbing drops are a quick fix!
