If baby is a boy, we are probably going to go with Andrew Gabriel. Andrew is a family name for both of us. Gabriel is for a student (Gabrielle, but I don't like the feminine) I taught at home for two years who passed away. She became like family to us (even DH, who got to know her family as well).
For a girl, we are thinking Allison Victoria. Allison just because we like it. Victoria is my middle name (and my g-grandmother).
For both first names, we plan to not use nicknames. I know it can be done because I have had students of both names who didn't shorten them. But I really foresee Allison becoming Ali at some point by herself or friends. How would YOU spell Ali?
Re: Thoughts on our name choices?
I would spell it Allie. The name is Allison is really nice, imo (I also like Alice).
I agree that Andrew is better in its long form. My friend's nephew is named Andrew & no one calls him Andy; it can be done!
i love both names. if our's was a boy we were gonna use Gabriel as a middle name too -- but it's a girl for us!
i would spell it Alli, because of the double L in Allison. i can almost guarantee a nick name will happen but that doesn't mean you have to call him/her anything but what you want. even with my name, Marie, i have been given nick names from some friends.
Names are beautiful and your reasons behind the middles are great!!! I have a friend Allison, and she get's Ali alot.... I think it's cute...
I have 2 friends names Andrew... one goes by Andy, the other goes by Drew... which I prefer.... But both Drew and Ali get called their whole names about 50% of the time... when they start hanging out with their friends when they get a little older is when something might really stick...
My brothers were always Daniel and Mathew... full names.... till middle school when their friends started shortening them.... they are still Daniel and Mathew to family, but shorter versions to friends....
I like the girl name although i prefer it with the spelling Alison
I don?t really like the boys name but the reason behind it is a nice one
Im Allison and go by Alli. Just the fam calls me Allison. It wasnt really something I tried to have happen, it just sorta happened but I really like both names actually......Im just use to Alli.
ColoradoAlly I have a question for you, does the Colorado in your name mean that is where you are from? Just curious because I just moved to Co from Fl and am having a really hard time adjusting. Both my parents are fighting cancer so im sure that has a lot to do with it and therefor not much can be done but I was just looking for some words to give me a little hope. Thanks
Alli or Allison in Colorado
