How much Zantac

My LO was prescribed Zantac for his acid reflux about a month ago and this week his symptoms seem to be coming back.  He has grown quite a bit in the last month and I wonder if maybe we need to up his dosage?  For those of you who are using Zantac, how much do you give?  Gideon takes 1ml twice a day (he weighs 12lb 10.5oz)

I would ask the pedi before changing the dose...but K weighs 13lbs and is taking 1.7ml twice a day.

Zantac dosage is dependent on weight.  Call your pedi for the exact dosage.

Ditto PP.  Don't mess with prescription drug doses unless you know what you're doing.  Call the pedi.

Oh I wouldn't change his dose without talking to the doctor, I was just wondering if his recent growth could be the reason for the return of his symptoms and wanted to compare notes.  No worries.

I planned on giving my LO the whole month to see if it help. Zantac has barelly rbeen helping. After reading how much your LO are taking i assume its probably the dosage.

DS weighted 12lbs 10oz and the doc perscibed 0.6 ml. He now weighs a little over 15 lbs and is still on the same does...Wonder if I should call the pedi and talk to her about it??

If you're finding the dosage is ineffective in preventing his symptoms, then yes his dosage probably needs to be adjusted. Call the pedi and explain and I'm sure she will advise you how much to give him.

Zantac is weight dependent and needs to be increased with weight. That being said, it also loses its effectiveness for some rather quickly and a PPI is needed. My pediatric GI said that after a bit, giving zanta is like giving water and just won't cut it if reflux is bad. Ds is now on prevacid.
