Baby Names

What do you think about - Linus Eagan?

The first name is pretty much set as Linus, but we are still struggling with a middle name.  DH suggested Eagan today.  What do you think?  Does it sound ok together?

Re: What do you think about - Linus Eagan?

  • I'd pick something a little more mainstream. Linus is "out there" enough and Eagen just makes it sound even more... dorky. Sorry, OP. The two names also kind of run together.

  • what about Linus Owen?  I think it flows a little better and still has that Irish-y feel.

  • I like Owen, but my cousin already named her baby that.  That's the other bad thing -- I have about a billion cousins that are popping out babies, so it's hard to pick a name that has not already been done.

  • I think Linus is sort -of cute but only for a nick name. I don't like Eagan at all. When I hear Linus I think of Charlie Brown stuff. Maybe Linus for a middle name ?

  • That is a great name. Linus Eagan sounds good. I do not believe it is too "out there". It is a legitimate name that people are starting to use more frequently.

  • I like Linus, but not a big fan of Eagan....what about Linus Andrew?  I think that sounds nice. Or Linus Evan if you were looking for a certain initial

  • Oh I really love it! It sounds like a historical name... the name of an author or a famous scientist (of course I think Linus Pauling). I love the combo. It sounds very classic and strong. :) Nice choices!

It's ok.  Linus is very quirky... I picture a very awkward person when I hear the name Linus.  Eagan is a last name to me.  I would choose a more traditional, common middle name.  I like a PP suggestion of Linus Andrew.

I'm sorry but I just think Linus has too strong of a connection to the Peanuts character and honestly you're not going to change the way people connect that name.  Perhaps you're ok with that.  But Linus is a babyish character who carries a blankie everywhere he goes and sucks his thumb.  It's just not the connection I would want people to make to my child's name and also, kids are really cruel and mean and jump at the chance to make fun of others.  I teach 3rd grade and 8 year olds can be very hurtful.  And kids still watch Charlie Brown at home and in school.

    I agree. I don't like Eagan either.

You can double up on middle names.  Its a little awkward when its the same first name.

    What about Ian?

  • I like Linus, and I think Eagan is a fine middle name.
