Is your H worthless when he's sick

I'm thinking most are but I'm just curious if there are any out there that arent.

DH stretches too thin with work, and works most evenings trying to catch up.  He says there is always something to be done.  He doesn't eat very healthy (not my fault, I blame it on his mother for never making him eat well and now he wont eat things he should) so his immune system isnt great to begin with.  He gets a day off, or like yesterday, a slow day that he's home and just responding to emails and such.  Well his body finally gets a chance to slow down and he ends up sick.

This wouldn't be a big deal but both boys have been sick for the past month (one sick, then the other and sometimes both sick).  I canceled DS #1's bday party today because he had been sick all week.  But because DH is so busy I'm been dealing with two sick kids, Dr appts and stuck in the house for weeks now.  I was looking forward to this weekend (knowing DH didnt have much going on Friday) to having some help with the boys.  They are getting better but I am just so fried and now DH is worthless.  You know what would happen if I didnt feel well (like DH), nothing.....I would still be taking care of the boys for the most part.

He has said he's sorry, he knows I'm fried and my patience are thin but it doesn't change him sleeping on and off pretty much all day.  I think the thing that bothers me most is days when he doesnt feel great he still goes to work.  He feels an obligation.  While I think its great that he has such a good work ethic, he has sick days for a reason.  How about using them and getting better so you can help around here and not be worthless when you do get home.

  • Yep.  I agree.  Mine can still work sick but when he comes home he's too sick to move.

  • Nope, the opposite.  My DH is a "gotta sweat the toxins out" kinda guy.  When he is sick, he'll put two sweatshirts on and then go chop wood or do some sort of heavy work.  It actually makes me feel like when I am sick, I can't take a nap or have an easy day, either.  Trust me, it's just as annoying the other way, too.
