Noisy Neighbor (NTR)

I have a neighbor in the apartment across the hall from me who is ridiculously loud. Her noise seems to start around 9-10pm, so its not even like its a reasonable hour. I hear her and her fling of the week fighting, having sex, blasting rap music (mind you, this woman is late 40's with a young son in the house). I normally ignore it and have never acted upon it aside from letting my landlord know (I guess shes had the police called on her many times). Well, I called the sheriff tonight because the music was literally shaking my already pounding head and we're all trying to get past the stomach flu and its after 10pm here. She told the sheriff it wasn't coming from her apartment (after he pounded on her door 4 times, loud enough for all the neighbors to open their doors) and then after the sheriff left started name calling me in the empty hallway!!! I called my landlord and hes having a talk with her tomorrow.

Was I wrong to call the sheriff? I know this may be a dumb post with no point, but it really irked me! Shes also accused me of stealing her mail before (wtf, I already have my own bills why would I want yours!!!) and I left her son a little candy for Christmas and she never once said thank you or even says hello.

Re: Noisy Neighbor (NTR)

  • I would have totally called.. My former upstairs neighbors used to be super loud all the time, but mostly starting around 8pm.. I called our after hours security on them 2-3x a week until they were finally evicted. They would seriously like have band practice or something up there, it felt like we were at a concert!

  • I'd be sooo mad! I feel like I'm at an R&B Soul Concert or something. My head is pulsating.
  • Have you ever approached her before going to the landlord?  Or, is she really that difficult to communicate with?  If so, then yes you did the right thing.  You were nice enough to only get the landlord involved and since that didn't matter to her well then I see the law enforcement as the next step up.  It's like dealing with my First graders.  If losing recess and fun time still doesn't make an impact then off to the principal they go.  I rarely do that too so if I do send them it's a big deal!

  • I would have called the cops.  I've done it before.

  • Nope, I agree. Call the cops and keep bugging your landlord until it stops. I would not put up with it.

I've heard from another neighbor that her music and fights with her different boyfriends have gotten so out of control that the please had to taze him in the parking lot. She is very impossible to communicate with. I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared to ask her to keep it down.
