I have a drinking problem

Ha got ya made you look ha? DH and I are TTC last cycle was a bust and I am on day 4 of my period. We would like to TTC this cycle as well but I have a girls weekend planned for April 20th-24th. My period would be due on the 24th so I would have no definite way of knowing if we had been successful. Would you drink freely or hold off since you are TTC? I am thinking about just skipping this cycle so I can have a guilt free girls weekend since it is my first since DS was born!

I think it's totally up to you and your comfort level. I drank after I went off of birth control... because we weren't tracking ovulation, etc, just letting it happen in its own time. So I know that I had a few drinks in the week or so after DS was conceived.

I never allowed myself more than 1 drink while TTC. I would probably hold off 1 more month and have a fun weekend with the girls. What if you have a BFP and then having morning sickness extra early?

It is up to you but the embryo would be safe in the first few weeks from the alcohol. Both pregnancies I have had, I drank before knowing I was pregnant and had no issues.

I did think of this. I drank a bit before I found out I was pregnant with DS but not like Vegas weekend of drinking! LOL

I drank before I knew I was pregnant with DD, I actually think I got pretty drunk one night, and then was freaking out after I found out I was pregnant.

Vegas and morning sickness = But since technically my period wouldn't even be due yet I doubt I would have it already.

I should add I don't want morning sickness over the summer since it is such a busy time for us and with DS I had it till 20 weeks. So if we wait and don't try this cycle or don't succeed this cycle we will be waiting till November to TTC again.

I wouldnt let something like morning sickness be a part of your planning. You never know if you will have it. With DD I had it my entire pregnancy.

I drank in moderation after I went off the pill until I got my BFP. I was still hiding the fact we were TTC and no beer during hockey playoff season would've been alarming for my group of friends. It's all up to you though.

I think this is what I am leaning towards. I might have to talk DH off the ledge and show him proof about this since he says he is worried I will get drunk in Vegas. I doubt it since I am a total lightweight now. I will probably have 2 glasses of wine and be done

It would! Luckily I doubt I will have MS already if I were since I wouldn't even be 4 weeks.

We have several camping trips planned this summer. I don't mind being pregnant on them just no MS. I just don't want to chance it. Barfing in a trailer bathroom is not fun!

DS was concieved on a drunken anniversary weekend in Vegas. I drank a couple of times before I found out I was pregnant, but just one or two drinks, not too excess. We are not actively TTC right now, but we are not preventing either so I still have a couple of drinks a week.

lol  Wuss!  Just kidding, I'm the same way now.  Yeah, this was told to me by my OB as I was a smoker before becoming pregnant with DS.  I was concerned but I had quit as soon as we found out - 4 1/2 weeks and she said nothing would have affected him.

I've had two doctors tell me it is fine to drink "in moderation" in the first few weeks before you have a confirmed BFP. I have two friends going through infertility and both of their doctors told them there is no reason to go cold turkey on drinking until you are sure you are pregnant. Of course by moderation they meant a few drinks in a night spread out over a few hours, not a half rack or a whole bottle of wine. If you feel like getting wasted on girls night then I would wait. I think I had up to three of four drinks one night while TTC about 2 DPO, over the course of 5 hours or so. For me that's not a big deal over the course of an entire evening. It was a 30th birthday party and I wanted to celebrate a little. I made a point not to drink as it got closer to testing time though.

I would go for it, and have a good time! Especially before you know if you are really pg. I had a (large) glass of wine every night of my pregnancy though--along with soft cheese, deli meat and sushi once a week or so! I guess I am pretty relaxed when it comes to that stuff. And DH is a pedi

Guilt free weekend is my vote!!!!  We weren't trying but i hadn't been on birth control for a while and i drank.  i remember beer just not tasting right and a couple weeks later i got a positive test.  Have fun and good luck!!!

Personally I'd drink freely. I wouldn't skip a month of ttc for one night out. You have no idea how long it might take you to get pg. I hope it's soon for you! I got pg really fast with ds1. It took 11m to conceive ds2.
