I voted for the 3 syllable version, but I guess after saying it outloud, it does kind of sound like just 2...all smashed up. Kind of like Kyle. I say it as 2 syllables, but quickly and it sounds like 1. KWIM?

With a long A, never heard it any other way. I know 3 kids with this name, 5, 7 & 11...all living in different states. How was it being "mispronounced"? Was the A being pronounced like apple? Just curious:)

Agreed. I think Avery is kind of like 2.5 syllables, which I think my name is too.
It may be a regional thing...I'm from the South and have a friend named Avery and everyone says "Ayve-ree". But hey, people say we shorten everything down here when we speak anyway
I would be the crazy woman that's upset about it being mispronounced =] It's not the A sound that people screw up, but the syllables. I pronounce it Av-ER-y as opposed to Avry. I just dont like the way it sounds with 2 syllables. I know it's not a huge deal, but you put a lot of thought into your child's name, so when people say it wrong it kind of changes it. Oh well, I'll just have to make sure I enunciate when introducing her.
