switching formulas ? PLEASE HELP!

my little man is having extremely bad gas and fussiness. They are labeling him as having colic now. He cries for hours and hours a day in pain. He's having stomach cramps or spasms I assume b/c he brings his legs up and cries out in pain until he passes gas or belches. We started on enfamil premium newborn, then switched to gentlease this tues night. He's gotten worse since the switch. He's having more gas and seems to be in more pain. I can't stand it! We have tried Mylician drops, then switched to mylanta every 4 hours, and then they gave me prescription strength gas drops and they want me to give him mylanta 3 times a day too. I don't like keeping him medicated like this. I begged them today to switch him to soy formula, but they really wanted me to give the gentlease a week to see if it works. They seem to think the gentlease will work. The nurse finally said we could try the soy since I talked her into it. Should I go with my mommy instinct and go with the soy or continue with gentlease for another few days??  (oh and btw I am allergic to milk protein and slightly allergic to soy...so I'm wondering if he is to). I wish I could breastfeed but I can't due to medical reasons.

A formula change can take 7-10 days to produce a difference.  I don't know long you've been on the Gentlease but I would wait it out.

Switching formula too many times can do more harm than good to a baby's digestive system.

This sounded like my LO.  My pedi told me to wait it out at least a week per formula.  We went from Similac Advance, to Similac Sensitive to Isomil Soy and now on Alimentum (which has been the only thing that helped).  I would try to give it a few more days and look into Colic Calm or Gripe water if you haven't already, it worked a teeny tiny bit for us.
