I am about to pull my hair out!!! DD was a SLOW crawler and finally started to do that at 15 months. At her 18 month check up the doctor was not concerned at all she was not walking due to her crawling so late in the game. I called her doctor when DD turned 19 months and she gave me a number for a lady to come out to my house and watch DD and see what i can do to help DD want to walk, BUT she was still not concerned and to give it 1-2 more months and if DD still does not want to walk to call the lady. WELL....DD will be 20 months on the 28th....she gets up and takes a few steps and after that....she is like, ok...I like crawling better so I will stick to that. She tries to walk a few times a day. She can totally do it, she just WONT! Please tell me there are a few of you out there with this same problem :-(
Re: I think I am the only one left with a toddler that WONT walk at 19 months!
That is what DD does, she walks on her knees!!! I think to myself, does she think she is walking??? ughhh
Go Phils!!
Yes, DS definitely thought he was walking! He carried all his toys and books around that way. He even chased the girls at DC on his knees.
I feel your pain. DD didn't crawl until she was 12 months and didn't walk until 18.5 months. We knew everything was fine with her muscle development - she just had slow gross motor skill development. She's only been walking now for 3 months and it's like there was never a delay. She's all over the place! My DD was also very hesitant - and I think that's what kept her from doing it so long. She could crawl so well, so why not?
Do you think there could be an issue with her, physically? It might make you feel better just to have a PT evaluate her. Hang in there!
Oh, yea, my guy does that, too. I noticed that if I hold his hand and we walk together and then I let him go ahead of me, he just eventually drops my hand and off he goes. Good luck!
Go Phils!!
I don't think you have anything to worry about. She's shown she can do it, she just prefers to crawl.
At Pierce's 4 month appointment he had only rolled over twice, so when I filled out the checklist she gave me, I checked "no" on the question about him rolling over. When she saw that, she asked if he'd ever rolled over & I said yes, twice so she said that it would be a "yes" because he's demonstrated his ability to do it. I hope that makes you feel a little better.
Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!
