My boys were born at 34 weeks 3 days- big preemie twins weighing in at 5lb 4 oz and 5 lb 3 oz. I have been bottle feeding them breastmilk with 2-3 oz of neosure for the calories.
At their 4 month appt. J weighed 15 lbs and N weighed 13 lb 14.5 oz. So I thought a good gain and staying on their curve - in J's case he jumped to the 75th. I plan on weaning this month- I have a super HUGE freezer stash so they will get breastmilk until atleast 6 months old.
My question is how long was your preemie on Neosure/Enfacare? My Pedi said she wanted them on it for a year - now it isn't for the calories it is for the calcium. I guess I just would like your experiences since I think they have pretty much caught up with term infants their age.
Oh and they are hitting the milestones of their actual age.
Re: a question about feeding
at NICU discharge the neonatologist recommended BM and supplement with at least one bottle of Neosure a day and to continue with Neosure for the first year....but at 6 mo check up my pedi said we could switch to regular formula...so we have....J weighed 14-6 and N weighed 15-7 last week so we are def not having a weight gain issue!
That is great they are hitting milestones of actual age! awesome!
