Looking for a obgyn/midwive supportive of VBAC, Delaware County, PA

Hi,

I am unhappy at my current practice.  Rude nurses, unreturned phone calls, and very busy doctors.  I am looking for a practice where I am not on an assembly line, not just another number and that is very supportive of VBAC.  I think I would like to deliver at Lankenau Hospital.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I live in Wallingford and could go to a number of different hospitals but I have heard the best things about Lankenau.

 Any info is very appreciated.

 Thanks,

  • I will be calling Dr. Scott Bailey, attends at Lankenau.  I got his info from my local ican chapter. Contact ICAN of SEPA and they will send you a list of vbac friendly docs in our area or shoot me a PM with your email and I will email the list to you.

  • I just delivered at Lankenau.  I saw Dr. Bailey and he was awesome...very VBAC friendly, honest, up front. I'd highly recommend him. Beware that because he delivers his patients whenever possible, he sometimes got backed up in the office and there could be a wait but he was really worth it. His DO, I didn't like, but I only saw her 2-3 times throughout the pregnancy.

I haven't called him yet, but I was wondering if you knew some specifics about his vbac rules so to speak.  How long past your due date can you go? Do you have to go into labor naturally, or will he induce?  Does he have a 2 hr push limit?  I know he performs VBA2C, per ICAN, but I wasn't sure if he puts any restrictions on you?  Any info would help.

he would allow me to go about a week overdue.  He was willing to strip my membranes twice and break my water to try to get me to go into labor on my own.  He wouldn't use pit.  Not sure about a pushing limit...I never asked.
