Single Parents

Hiya folks!

I figured it was about time I formally introduced myself. Hello ! My name is Jami. I am 25 years old and serving in the USAF. Been in almost 7 years and am expecting my first child in august! Believe me it wasn't planned nor did want to have a baby under the circumstances I am in, but S#*t happens.

The FOB hasn't wanted to be involved from the moment I found out and I am now 19 weeks. I was planning on making him support the LO but have come to the conclusion that I don't want to worry about having to wait for him to figure out how to do that.

I have been coming on this board to keep my spirits up and to see how many other people are able to make it on there own. I know I can but I just need some outside encouragement sometimes ya know?

Well there ya have it! I hope to make a few buds on here! Ta-ta!

  • File for CS when the baby is here.  You don't force him the Courts do.  He'll figure it out quick how to pay if he doesn't want to go to jail for non compliance.

    This.  Other than that, welcome!

  • That would mean that I have to put him on the birth Certificate tho right? I am avoiding that simply because if I put him on there and I get an assignment overseas I won't be able to get a passport for LO until I get his signature. Same thing applies if I finally meet someone and they want to adopt LO.

Yeah- If he doesn't want anything to do with the baby and you feel that your financially capable and don't want his help, skip it all together. You are in a unique situation (being in the USAF), and the last thing you want to do is give rights to a parent who doesn't want them.

Welcome, and I hope you have a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy.

  • I say don't put fathers name on BC. And also you won't need a passport for baby if you are relocated. You will be able to take your child with you no matter what! So on those grounds put your mind at ease. Welcome to the board, and enjoy your pregnancy, at the time it feels like your pregnant forever, but then you have the baby and then you miss it a bit!
