Waking each other

So, I knew this was inevitable, but the boys are starting to wake each other during the night.  They sleep in our room in RnP.  Tucker will sleep for 5-6 hours the first part of the night and Duncan is still waking every 2-3 hours.  Anyway, after Tucker gets long stretch then he and Duncan start to wake each other with their grunts, growns, and some crying.  So last night they were up A LOT.

My first thought was that we should just seperate them.  Maybe put Tucker in a room by himself since he is sleeping longer stretches.  But then eventually they will have to be in the same room together because we only have a 3 bedroom house and DS1 is in one of them.  Will they start to just get used to each other?

Re: Waking each other

  • Do you use a white noise, or sound machine?  I find that this help immensely.  If they nap somewhere else without one, or I forget to turn it on, they don't sleep nearly as soundly.

We did go though a phase of this, but we stuck to our guns because we don't have another room to separate them.  Eventually they got used to it - but I don't remember how long it took.   Good luck!

This for us too.  I moved them to their own room at 12 weeks I think.  And yes, they were waking each other up but they did get used to it.  One of them can be HOLLERING now and the other will be knocked out.

  • I would move Tucker until Duncan sleeps better.

That is what we did, we figured if one baby was close to STTN, then we should move that baby and give it the opportunity to STTN.

  • Thanks Ladies.  We do use a sound machine it that helps some.  I think we may think about moving Tucker for now.
