Ok - so last week (6w1d) baby A was doing great, had a visual heartbeat, right size, etc. Baby B (surprise) was just an empty sac at that point (or at least not enough inside to get good measure). This week (7w1d) baby A now has heartbeat that I could hear and is still doing great...yay! Baby B is now where baby A was last week - we could see the yolk and a flickering of a heartbeat. Still, my dr is "90% certain it will be absorbed, but I never say never".
Anyone else have similar experience that ended up resulting in 2 healthy babies? He seems so certain I will not end up with two he isn't really even going into detail. I mean I get keeping my expectations low - but WTF?
Re: Update on potential twins
This early on, it really could go either way. The fact that Baby B is progressing is definitely a good sign. It could be that it implanted a few days late and that's putting it a few days behind the other. It could be that it won't survive. It's stressful I'm sure but it really isn't for sure either way and I'm sure he doesn't want to say something that will get your hopes up just to find out next week that it's not going to happen.
When do you go back??
I am not sure yet on my next appt. I am supposed to get my next "instructions" today (my ivf clinic gives you all your updates through a set voicemail system). they actually said they may release me to my regular OB now but because of the second baba the OB would monitor me closer to keep an eye on that one. I am afraid I will not longer have these weekly visits that I so look forward to though.I may have to wait 2-3 weeks to go back...Ugh!
My first ultrasound at 5w5d showed A with faint HB of 100bpm and B was an empty sac. I went for another u/s approx 2 weeks later and both were growing with healthy HB's. I was told to expect B to absorb as well and they are now both crazy two yr olds.
I think Dr's (at least in my experience) want to prepare you in situations like this.
