Nancy Christine. She keeps trying to get us to name DD Christine, lol. I am not a fan of either name, and she has no nn - it is Nancy or don't talk to her.
Sidenote, my maternal grandmother's name was Isabelle Miranda, which I always thought wa so beautiful growing up. She hated her mn and changed it when she was in her 40's or 50's to Myra
She was named Eve because she was the first female born to my grandfather's side of the family for many many generations. Elizabeth was her mother and grandmother and Katherine would have been an aunt, but passed as a child during WW2. And yes, I do love my mother's name, and it is even becoming quite popular these days.
What an awesome name and it's so rich in family history!
Alethea. (pronounced AL-thee-a) She hates it. She goes by Bunny. LOL No middle name, she uses her maiden initial as a middle when signing. I would never use it.
Cute. How'd she get the nn Bunny?
Apparently as an infant she would wiggle her nose, and my grandpa thought she looked like a bunny. So Bunny it was, and it stuck. She has 7 brothers and sisters, all go/went by a shortened/nn version, and my grandmother had 8 sisters and 1 brother, all went by some sort of nn (she had sisters named Eleanor Louise and Louise Eleanor - I think they ran out of names!) NN are big in our family.
I do like it - I gave my daughter Michele as a middle name. My grandma (who was a Bernice) was so proud that she named my mom Michele with one 'L'. Funny thing is my mom went to get her birth certificate for some reason as an adult, and it lists her name as Michelle!
Mary Elizabeth. Classic, beautiful. But I've never felt the urge to use the name Mary (Elizabeth, yes, I could see myself choosing that one for a daughter).
Edited: Okay, this thread made me think of Mary in an entirely different light. I don't know... perhaps I *could* use it as a fn or mn for a daughter? I really do like my mom's name!
I love the name Mary for a girl. Way under used these days, and don't do a double name (Mary Grace, Mary Claire, etc). Just Mary Last Name is lovely IMO.
I totally agree about not doing the double name with Mary! It's overdone with the solo name Mary not done enough (and Elizabeth is definitely my mom's mn!).
My mom has a twin and they didn't know until they were born and they quickly came up with Denise Ray so they were called Debbie and Denny.
My MIL is Rosalie Denise. I I like Rosalie but would never use it.
Sorry to keep posting, but this happened to me and my twin too (they didn't know there was a second baby until labor and delivery!) I've never met another set of twins where this happened! But in our case, my parents took a week to rethink the names.
My mother was born and raised in Israel... her fn was Ronit (Ro-neat) and her middle name was Ellen. (Her parents were from Poland and Germany, pre-WW2).
When she moved to America she started going by Ronnie because she was tired of people butchering her name.
If I lived in Israel I'd use Ronit for sure but I'm not a huge fan of Ronnie. I do LOVE Ellen though.
I went to college with a Ronit. I always thought it was very pretty.
Beverly Jane. She hated her first name growing up and has always gone by Jane. I love family names and would consider using Jane as a middle name for future DD.
