DS1 is 4 1/2 and still says red is green and green is red. He knows all his other colors without ever making an error, but these two he consistently says wrong. If I press him on his wrong answer and say, "What is it?", he guesses right the second time. I don't know if he really sees it correctly at that point or if he's just learned to say the right answer from being corrected in the past.
My post below about testing for kindergarten reminded me of this and now I am wondering if its something that needs to be looked into sooner vs later. Before, I always just assumed it was something he would grow out of.
Does anyone know about this and/or have experience with it?
Re: Color blindness?
I have a cousin who does the same thing...he's 30 now and has had no problems because of it, other than occasionally wearing mismatched clothing.
Which is why I guess I haven't been too worried about the fact that DS1 almost always mixes up red and blue.
Thanks, girls!
By grow out of it, I guess I meant that I always thought if it was something he just didn't know that he would learn it eventually. Since he is old enough to know all the other colors, its becoming obvious that it isn't a learning thing and is something else.
I will mention it to his pedi!
