s/o toms: toddler sizing?

Those of you whose toddlers have toms, do they run pretty true to size?  I'd like to get the kids each a pair before our trip to CA, so I'd have to order online, but I'm not seeing the sizes listed with inch measurements on the site.  How old is your LO and what size are they in?

In our experience, they ran HUGE.  DD was wearing a size 4 in Converse (but I *was* kinda cramming her foot in there) and ordered her a size 5 Tom.  It was enormous on her...like 1.5-2 finger length too big.

The girl at Nordstrom told me they run about a half size big, which I found to be true.  Kennedy is in a 7 now.  And MMT, just FYI, Converse typically run a full size smaller.  Did I do that right?  A 4 in a Converse is like a 5 in another shoe.  And a 5 in TOMS is like a 5.5 in another shoe.

Gotcha.  Thanks, girls.  I might hold out and just go to Nordstrom when we get to CA, just to be safe.

Just a word of warning, Nordstrom sells out of them very quickly in store.  You might call the store you're going to and make sure they have plenty before you do that.  Otherwise, maybe order them early enough that you can still exchange in time.  And you may want to let them wear them around the house for a bit before your trip anyway, so they can start to mold to their feet and be more comfy.  Not sure how much time you really have though.

A 4 in a Converse is like a 3 in another shoe.  But yeah...I follow ya.

Twist my arm.  I'll buy 'em today, then.  The Nordstrom site had a better sizing chart (including inches) so I think I should be good to go.  Let the UPS man stalking begin!

And now I think I said it backwards above.  Converse run big and TOMS run small.  Right? My head hurts.

that would mean they run small.

but they really run big.  I think.

Right.  Kennedy's Converse have always been a size smaller than all of her other shoes that fit her at the same time.  Like the Converse she just outgrew are a 6, but the other shoes she just outgrew are a 7.  So do I say they run big or small?  I think big, because it's like comparing them to other shoes of the same size?  So if I say that Converse run big, that would mean that if I have a bunch of size 4 shoes lined up, the Converse would be bigger than most of them?  I am thinking about this way too much.  It's like if you say "cupboard" over and over, it doesn't even sound like a word anymore.  Sheesh.

Oy my head! My thoughts: Size 4 Converse = size 5 "other" shoe. If your child wears a size 4 in most shoes and you bought a size 4 converse they would be too big meaning they run big since they are bigger than the other shoes in the same size.

Does that make sense? It took a while for me to get this out. I will blame the 4 hours of sleep I got last night.
