shower date question

Ok, I know there have been numerous posts on this but I need advice!  My due date is 8/10 and I was hoping my shower would be in June.  I figured this would give me time to buy whatever didn't come from shower gifts that was necessary and whatnot.  Plus, if I went early, July might be a little close for comfort. 

A close family member has a big vacation planned but isn't certain on dates. They are aiming for first half of June, and it would take out two guests if they were gone for the shower. 

So my question is, do I gamble with June 18, not knowing if they willl be out of town?  Or go with July 9th, after holiday weekend is out of the way?  The 25th is bad for one of the shower hostesses.  Do you think July 9 gives me enough time to posibly go early, as well as get everything organized and purchased post-shower?

I would go end of May if you could.

My due date is 8/31 and my shower is 6/12.  I want to have everything and ready to go well in advance because I worry about how mobile I will be toward the very end.

Hey we have the same due date, and i think i read from a post the other day we were getting the same Graco bed. I guess we are just too cool. lol anyway I think July 9th will be fine for your shower. Even if you go early, I doubt it would be that early. Mine is going to be in the beginning of June, but thats only because for July so much of my family takes trips. Im sure itll all work out due date buddy.

I think you should either go with the 18th or go late May. Personally for me I don't want my shower to be a month before my due date. My SIL last year had her shower 4 weeks out from her due date and her water broke the morning of the shower( she didn't realize because it was a slow leak and she just though she was having bladder issues) She ended up going into labor the next day. So for me I don't want to risk that even though the chances of that happening are slim. Plus i'd rather have a decent amount of time to unpack everything we get and get the room ready to go and install the carseat and buy the stuff that we didn't get.

I'm due 8/4 (c-section will be at the end of July, though) and my shower will be at the beginning of June.

July 9th should work out fine, but if you really want to make sure you have plenty of time, go for the earlier one. So helpful, right? :P

Could you possible do a Sunday instead of a Saturday?  June 11/12 or June 26th instead of 25th (if that works better for your hostess who can't make the 25th)?

My last shower is June 25th b/c I didn't want a July shower, and my EDD isn't until August 25th.  I just didn't want to be uncomfortable, and wanted time after for things you mentioned.

The reason I don't love the June 18th date is it's Father's Day weekend (June 19th is Father's Day).  I wouldn't have a shower on Mother's or Father's Day weekend.

I don't think July 9th is terrible...but it would be cutting it close for me!  (my mom wanted July 23rd for mine...so same timing for me as July 9th is for you, and I would've been okay with that if June 25th hadn't worked out).  GL!!

Thanks ladies, I felt the same about July being too late for comfort but also was afraid of sounding demanding.

I agree July seem late. I am due 8/30 and my shower is 6/25, I wanted it earlier in June but it didnt work for the ones hosting the shower.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with waiting until July 3 (yep, holiday weekend so many likely unable to attend). This is mostly my fault - I live out of state and have 2 work trips plus a fun trip planned this spring, and DH has a week long fishing trip, and then SIL is due in mid June. So July it is! Like my wedding - things are just too difficult to plan around, so I figure if immediate family can make it (sisters, SIL, moms) then that is good enough and anyone else is bonus!

What about doing a Sunday like June 26?

I agree July 9 is a little close for comfort.

My EDD is August 4th and my showers are on April 22 at 25 weeks (across country) and May 28 at 30 weeks (local). I wanted to have plenty of time to get everything together before the baby came.

My due date is August 4th and I am having my shower June 11th. That gives me 7-8 weeks for preparation.

I would definitely go with the June date....I would not want the July 9th date because although the holiday is over, a lot of people go on vacation that week and would be traveling back on that Saturday (the 9th). Just a thought...I'd go with the 18th...Plus, if you set the date soon perhaps the relatives you were worried about will decide to go earlier in the month or later. Good luck!
