belly button rings...

i took mine out years ago but the hole is stretching out like crazy and now kind of tender! it feels like baby is focusing on punching that exact spot and it hurts!

now i know what my parents meant when they said DON'T DO IT!  hahaha  gotta learn on your own as a teenager i guess! i wonder (if i have a daughter) if she'll listen to me!? i should get a close up picture of it and show her!

Re: belly button rings...

  • Weird you mentioned this. I took mine out yesterday :( The balls of it were making indentions in my skin when I wear maternity pants from the material that goes over my belly pushing on it. I will deff. put it back in. After DS the skin was loose and gross looking but after losing weight it goes somewhat back. I had to re-poke the hole back thru after DS. I was just asking my husband when I took it out the 1st pregnancy I don't remb but I think it was sooner.  But yes the skin is very sensitive and today it looks way more stretched since there's nothing in there pushing it out.

  • I think I took mine out around 22 weeks...it was getting tight and there were signs of obvious irritation.  The scar tissue left from the peircing is nasty and very tender.  It's stretching so weird that it is making my belly button look disgusting!
  • I took mine out 4 years ago or so.  The hole doesn't seem to be stretching, but it is definitely there.

  • I took mine out about 7 years ago and it is extremley sensitive where the scar is. I hit (more like tapped) my belly on my desk at work the other day and it hurt so bad!

  • I've kept mine in throughout this pregnancy - not because I really want to hang on to it, I also sort of regret the silly thing! I had a pregnancy piercing put in back around 20 weeks and so far so good! It does get tender though!

I will be taking the plastic piercing out for delivery though.

  • I do, and I still like mine, I think I'm just used to it being there so now my belly looks weird without it.  Currently though, it's out.  My skin has gotten too thin to leave it in anyway.

  • Mine is disgusting.  The first time they didn't go deep enough and I didn't know it and wore it for years, when I started having problems they said to take it off and the hole never closed because it is too thin so that has stretched a lot.  Then I had it done deeper and I swear I used to not even be able to see the scar, it was just a dot and it was has stretched like 3 inches.

  • This has been a big issue with me.  I took it out once my belly started to "show" which was around 14-15 weeks, I think.  It has stretched to it's max and is super purple on the skin that was pierced.  It's super gross and DH always has to make a comment about it. It's like if i would have known at 16 what it would have looked like, I probably wouldn't have gotten it pierced!  I'm just hoping it goes back to normal once LO has arrived.  Props to those of you whose piercings have stayed normal!

This is EXACTLY why I never got one!  My father is a physician and he showed me pictures of pregnancy piercings and infections in some and it grossed me out.  HA!

I'm sorry yours hurts!  Maybe coat it in vaseline or something.

  • I took mine out halfway through my last pregnancy.  It hasn't done anything weird though - no stretching of the holes or scarring.  Maybe I'm just lucky??

Hahaha! I can see this conversation:

"So, you want a belly button ring?"

    "Yes!"

"And when you have a child, do you want your belly button to look like...THIS?! (whips out picture)"

Hahaha. I took mine out last year, and it looks worse than all my stretch marks put together. That's enough of a horror show to talk teenage me out of getting one.

  • I still have my pregnancy piercing. I am at the point where I would feel naked without a belly ring. It took me over a year to get used to my toe ring being taken off (which was actually removed in the delivery room with DD#1). And I wore that for less time than my belly ring.

I guess I am lucky that mine hasn't given me any problems. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my belly button hasn't popped out?
