NBR: Tell me if I am being irrational or not....

So March 26th is my MIL birthday. DH is out of town this weekend for a conference. There were supposedly all these emails going back and forth between DH, his brothers and his dad about lunch plans to celebrate her birthday... DH isnt even going to be around and somehow they made these plans and I am just supposed to drop all my plans with I made weeks ago to go to lunch with them. Had I been involved in these emails, they might have known that I would not be able to do lunch?! Dinner sat or dinner sun would have been better...

I am pissed because they do this all the time, just make plans, DH told them he isnt in town talk to me, Never got anything... well now DH is mad and me and wants me to move my plans?! Which I have rescheduled with this person 3 times.

What would you do? Change your plans and make it a 4th time or tell them no because they couldnt communicate with me in the first place?!

Re: NBR: Tell me if I am being irrational or not....

  • Absolutely do not change your plans. It has been said that they need to communicate with you, and you need to be consistent or it will just continue to happen.

I could've written this exact same post. My ILs constantly do this...it drives me batty. They email my DH about dinner or gift ideas...then I am suppose to just go along with it. I finally put my foot down about it. I find is extremely disrespectful. My DH now knows if they dont include me in the email conversations- he better or I'm not participating in said event/idea.

  • Heck no! Do not change your plans! That's ridiculous that they expect you to drop what you're doing when it's their fault for not letting you know about it!

Same here! They are always trying to back DH into a corner when they want to do something, and never ask me, they just go to him.

I would say, 100%, stick with your plans. Next time, they will know to include you in emails, which they should be doing in the first place!
