I haven't shopped for computers in years because my work provides me with a laptop. My mother wants an inexpensive, simple laptop so that she can look at pictures of the kids online (essentially, she wants a laptop so she can join Facebook). She's said no to a netbook b/c the screen is too small, and no to an iPad because she wants a real keyboard. Any suggestions for her? She's looking to spend ~$500 (doesn't need the Office Suite, or a webcam or anything).

Re: Pls. Rec. An Inexpensive Laptop
thats what my netbook is...not exactly my favorite however my sil has the asus laptop and loves it...so do i.
I recently purchased a Toshiba satellite laptop at Office Depot for $368. The reason why I liked it so much was that it stays charged for 6 hours at a time without being plugged in. I hate working on a laptop with it charging.
I had a DELL 18 months ago and it fell apart. I HATED it! So my advice would be to stay away from Dell.
I also made sure that my keyboard wasn't recessed because I had a labrador inside and she sheds like crazy and I would have hair in my laptop keys. yuck!
GL!
