I'm testing out my fave in the siggy. The problem DH and I cannot agree on a any names. Here are our lists of names we love. I love non popular FN (paired w/ a common MN) and I know it's not everyone's style. I feel his list has a more dated 80's feel. H says mine is a celebrity wanna be. I have heard mixed feelings about 'my' name choices and have a tough skin. H on the other hand is easily influenced. If anyone is interested I can give you H's feedback on each of my names...

Saylor Natalie
Tara Karen
Gianna Valerie
Kinsley Angela
Re: Flame me: I love unusual names!
Saylor is pretty "out there" from your list. I like Tara much better, or even Gianna. Saylor just looks made up and misspelled and yes, when I see names like that, I do think the parents are uneducated.
Your H's list- Natalie is the only one I really like and I think the other 3 really do feel 80's.

I don't think your names are that unusual...& i much prefer your list over your DH's! Off your list, Gianna is my fav!
Btw, i just noticed your city...I'm just north of Denton!!

My niece is named Saylor! She's the only one I ever heard of so I was surprised to see the name in your post. We love it and that's coming from a large family with mostly conservative names
Really? This actually helps my argument w/ DH. He has an uncommon name and doesn't want DD to have one.
I appreciate everybody's feedback!
I like Gianna,
I don't like any of your H's names. Not my style!

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I like Gianna. I think that's a pretty name and possibly a happy medium for you and your hubby. Giana Valerie or Giana Angelina could be possible combos for you... maybe Gianna Natalie... I like that.
Tara is OK.
I hate Kinsey and Saylor... gag!
Karen is a nice name, but not too exciting. I do like Kiersten.

Judging from the nametag in your siggy, it sounds like you've already chosen a name.
Not to just totally burst your bubble, but none of your names are THAT odd or out there. Tara is sort of old-trendy, Gianna is really rising in popularity, and Kinsley is ultra-trendy right now. Saylor is a celebrity baby name, so it's far from unheard-of (if not well-used).
From your husband's list, Natalie is skyrocketing and Valerie (well, actually, Valeria) is gaining subtly, thanks to a small surge of popularity in V names (think Vivian, Valencia, etc.). Karen is pretty 70's, and Angela is borderline popular because of the influx of Spanish-speaking immigrants.
So really, you're not that original, your husband isn't that dated. It's a wash.
BTW, I like your daughter's name. I think Saylor Olivia is a lovely name.
I like Gianna and Natalie.
I would like Saylor if you spelled it SAILOR! Why the random weird y?

~DD Born! 2013~
I agree completely.
I am not a fan of occupation names--Cooper, Sailor,etc....
Tara and Angela feel 80s to me--the rest do not.
I like Kenley better than Kinsley--and it is trendy and I believe will sound dated in 20 years like Ashley, Jennifer, Caityln,etc....
How about Natalie Sailor or Giannna Natalie or Gianna Karen.
I like the nn Gia for Gianna and Nats and Talie for Natalie.
Maybe you could come to a compromise and then maybe a nn will come up that you both love!
I don't feel like your names are unusual at all, but trendy. Saylor (Sailor) is Christy Brinkley's daughter but that's the only celebrity reference I can think of. Gianna & Tara are somewhat common depending on where you are and Gianna especially is traditional. Kinsley is cheesy at best.
H's list is a bit dated but overall those names will stand the test of time and won't cause any issues. In fact, they're not used as commonly now so that might actually be a good thing. If you're worried about appearing "too 80's" Then take Kinsley & Saylor off your list. Eventually, people will say your daughters' name is "SOOO 2011". *insert eye roll here*
1998 Ovarian Cancer Survivor. 7 Miscarriages: 6w, 13w2d, 4w2d, 7w4d (DD's twin), 5w. Failed Tubal after c/s (!!): 5w2d, 6w4d
I would just spell it Sailor, like Christie Brinkley's daughter.
I'm disappointed, I was hoping for something realy unusual...Oh, well.
I think it's funny that you think you really like unusual names...they are a fairly popular right now.
Saylor is misspelled...and when paired with a HUGELY popular middle name (like Olivia in your siggy) its pretty average. I think you will find she will have at least one other Sailor in her year at school (not each class but in each grade)...but they will probably spell it Sailor, but it is still the same name.
But I do think you and DH need to come up with a name you both love...that seems to be the sticking point, more than how unusual the names are.
Lol! When I first mentioned the name to DH he suggested we call her SHelectrician!
