Swim diapers?

We are going away next weekend and DD will have her first pool experience!  We bought a baby float for her (I think it's the swimways one posted below), but need to get some swim diapers.  Just looking online, it looks like Pampers Splashes and Huggies Little Swimmers both start at or above 16 lbs.  DD is a Pampers size 2 - we currently use Pampers baby dry for our regular diapers.  Pampers Splashers start at size 3-4 and Huggies Little Swimmers size small is 16 - 26 lbs!  I think DD is about 15.5 - 16 lbs.  Anyone get a smaller swim diaper or have experience of the fit of these diapers?  What should we do?

Thanks!

Re: Swim diapers?

  • I'm not sure how you feel about reusable swim diapers (like a cloth diaper for the pool almost) but if I remember correctly onestepahead.com and a few other places (you can find some on amazon) sell reusable swim diapers that are adjustable. if that's not an option you are open to, I'd say go ahead and try the disposable swim diapers in size small. My son could fit into huggies size three when he was only 16lbs. They were a bit big in the butt and i had to pretty much overlap the tabs, but they never leaked. (ahh emergency diaper borrowing!)

  • We are using the Huggies Little Swimmers right now. DD has swim lessons every Saturday, and had her first one last weekend. She is only about 14.5lbs (I think, she may be a bit smaller than that) and they fit pretty well. They were a tad baggy but the elastic around the thighs seemed pretty snug and we didn't have any leakage!
  • Thanks for your replies!  I'd rather do disposable so I'll try the Huggies small size.  I just thought that weight range might be a problem.  I don't want them falling off of her!  Thanks again!
  • DS is around 15.5 lbs. and he wears the Huggies Little Swimmers size small and they are fine.  They are just longer so we fold the top over.  They are snug enough by his thighs.
  • I was having the same issue (my DD is around 14.5 lbs), but I just picked up the small Little Swimmers and we used them for the first time last night.  We had no problems at all- like PP said they can be a little long so we fold them over and make sure they're good and snug, but no leakage and a happy little splasher!
  • reusable swim diapers are on sale at ecobabybuys.com today. 2 for $10.99. One Step Ahead sells these for around $10.99 each. So if you don't mind green and the fact that they're reusable then it's a good deal.

  • I'm usually just a lurker here, but I had input on this one!

We used the small Little Swimmers on DS when he was about 9-10 lbs. They were a bit tall on him, but they stayed on great! We just folded them down so they weren't in his armpits! Also, we got a swim diaper that's like a speedo for him at Walmart for $5. It's Op brand I think.

The length of a minute depends on which side of the bathroom door you are standing on! Photobucket
What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!
