Cloth Diapering

Do you have a diaper sprayer?

The one that attaches behind the toilet.

Is it a must or not so much?

Re: Do you have a diaper sprayer?

  • Yes, we have one.  LO is still EBF but I do spray off poopy covers and diapers if I feel so inclined, but it's not necessary right now.  I don't want to have to scrape diapers once he starts solids, plus DH was all about it, so we got one.

  • I don't have one and I've been CDing since DD#1 was newborn. BF poop I just washed in the washer. FF poop and solids I would scrape what I could and just wash like normal. I used a plastic knife to do the scraping.

I don't think it's necessary, but I know others that swear by it.

  • We don't.  I don't feel like we need it at all.

  • No.

I very rarely have to take care of poop other than just plopping it into the toilet, but I have found that the sprayer that we already had on the shower for dog washing just created a huge mess around the whole toilet area.

  • DD's stepmom has one for her baby's CDs and loves it.  Says it's super handy now that she is eating solids.  She has 2 of them so she is giving me her extra.  Hoping I love it as much as she does

  • Love it.  It is definitely a must IMO.  We keep a poopy diaper hamper in the bathroom so that we can spray off the poop diapers and throw them directly into the hamper.  Wet ones go into DS' room.

We have the bumgenius sprayer and I am a huge fan.

  • Seems like those that have one love it but then those that don't really don't know the difference so its not a huge "need".Really you are just supposed to be sure all solids are off right? Its not a necessity to rinse?
  • We're planning on getting one. We need it. DD has peanut-butter poop and it' a huge mess. Scraping it off is even hard and the idea of plopping it is hilarious. Not happening.

  • We don't have one. We use disposable liners so we just dump them in the toilet. If there's anything left on the diaper it is usually pretty easy to wipe off with some TP.

  • Love ours.  We used it from the very beginning even with EBF diapers.  Now that DS is on solids, I am so glad that we have one.  I have the bumgenius sprayer.

My kid, too.  I've tried scraping and dunking and swishing.  Did not work at all.  I can't live without my sprayer, and I've gotten so I rarely make a mess when spraying.

  • We actually have a removable shower head that we use to wash off the diapers instead of a diaper sprayer. It works great.

Mine also has the PB poo most of the time.  She's still not a big fan of table food and purees, so she's still in that "in between" phase between the BM poo and the ploppable stuff.  I would die without my BG sprayer!

  • I didnt have one when DS1 was in cloth and didnt think we needed one because we used flushable liners. With DD we got one and it is the BEST thing ever to have for poops from cloth and for rinsing out the potty of a PL'ing toddler. It also comes in handy to spray vomit off things. I really dont know how I lived w/o it.

  • having both had, and not had one i'll say that it's useful sometimes...

at my old house, i didn't have a diaper sprayer. but if i had a poop gross enough, i'd pull the shower head down and wash it away into the toilet.

at our house now, the owner also cd her kids so in the laundry room, they have a wash sink with a diaper sprayer in it (not going to lie, that was a huge boon for renting this house lol), and we've used it a few times, once again for only the really nasty poops and that has been great. i especially like it at the wash sink because i don't have to bend over the toilet to use it.

so it is kind of a 50/50 deal... it's not a big deal if you don't have one, but if you have a nasty runny poop, it's great!

  • My DS does NOT have "ploppable" poo, and a spatula or scraper could work, but it'd probably take me like 5 minutes to clean it off (yes, it's that bad!) So, I really like my sprayer.
