Cloth Diapering

DD doesn't like her CDs...not sure what to do.

She fusses every time she pees when she's wearing them.  That would be fine, except it wakes her up when she's sleeping.  I've been putting her in cloth for the day and trying to switch to a disposable before naps and at night, but sometimes she goes down before I catch her to change her or I forget.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I really like CDing, but I really wish it didn't make her cry!  What can I do?

I've also noticed that sometimes she keeps fussing when she's in cloth, so I check if she's wet and she's not.  I take her to the changing table anyhow thinking her diaper is too tight or something, and she pees as soon as I lay her down.  Then she's happy.  It's like she waits!  She's only 6 weeks, so I don't think that's even possible, but she does it every day lately.

Thanks!

  • What kinds of diapers are you using?  Could you try a pocket with a stay dry liner and see if that helps?

  • Try a fleece liner so she doesn't feel the wetness.

  • I have the SAME problem with my DS. When he's in his prefolds I sometimes have to change his diaper every half hour. Our record is 19 diapers in a 24 hour period, and that's with wearing sposies for 8 of those hours. I don't mind changing him, I just hate to see him so miserable. I've tried the fleece liners and it doesn't really make a difference for him. Unfortunately the only solution I've come up with is to slowly replace all of my prefolds with OS pockets. We are up to nine pockets and im buying at the rate of about one per week. It's expensive, but at least he won't be so sad all day! We are still doing disposables at night and just being thankful for any naps he can squeeze in. I'm hoping it will get better when he pees less frequently.

  • I have the opposite problem.  She doesn't care that she is wet and I am afraid she will develop a rash or something because she just sleeps right through a really wet diaper.  I wouldn't want to sit in a wet prefold - but, that is just me.

  • I've tried prefolds, fitteds, BG AIOs, and Thirsties Duos Pockets.  I haven't tried a stay dry liner with the prefolds or fitteds, because I figure it's the same feeling as the AIO or pocket.

This might be a really strange question but does she have a UTI?  Seems like if she's crying when she pees and if she's waiting to pee it could be a UTI.  I'd ask the pedi....

This is what we ended up doing too.

Definitely a good thought, but I'm 99% sure she doesn't have a UTI.  She doesn't cry when she pees, it's before she pees, until I lay her on the changing table.  She gets super calm when she actually pees. It's also not crying like she's in pain, it's fussing like she's annoyed, and it never happens when she pees in a disposable.
