Synagis payment issue?

Isla is due to get her second Synagis shot at the pedi's office this month. I thought we were all set to go but my insurance is dragging it's feet processing Isla's NICU claims (which means her deductible and out of pocket for the year would be met 100% and the insurance would have to cover everything for the rest of the year in full).

The provider who mails the shot to the office called me and wants me to give them my credit card info over the phone and wants me to pay for Isla's portion in full prior to mailing the vaccine. I want Isla protected but I'd like to be protected as well. I don't give out my info over the phone and absolutely not my credit card info so the company can "keep it on file but not charge on it." Riight, wink wink. When I refused to give the information the lady became insistent with me that it was mandatory. The pedi's office advised there is no other way to complete this procedure but I'm not giving out my personal information. I offered to pay for the remainder of the shot at the pedi's office for the secretary to forward to the provider and was told no.

Have you been able to pay for the shot on line somewhere? I'd like to get this done and over with and know that my information isn't being held with a company after the shot is given. I don't trust people and I'm worried that my credit card information will be compromised. I've been the victim of ID theft twice, forgive me, I'm cautious now.

Re: Synagis payment issue?

  • Sorry you are going through this. I don't have any ideas but I did want to say I'm having my own issues with insurance and synagis coverage and it all totally sucks. Good luck.

  • Ugh-- they never make it easy, do they?  You know, not everyone has a credit card-- they must have some process in place as an alternative.  Try calling back and speaking to someone else (and then to that person's supervisor, if need be).  Ask if they can send you a form to fill out with your credit card info. on it-- or if you're not comfortable with that, ask if you can send a cashier's check.

    Good luck!

  • I have the same issue.  When they called me and wanted my credit card, I put up a fight.  The problem is they have the upper hand - they have the medicine and you want the medicine.  I asked to speak to a supervisor.  In the end, I was able to get a confirmation number for charging the credit card.  Overall, it sucks!  Insurance sucks!  We are paying a ton, but we need the medicine!

  • I had the same problem and ended up paying for the second shot on my CC, but after doing more research, I went somewhere else for the third shot ( the first was given in the hospital). It is a long story, but if you would like advice on how to deal with it, feel free to email me. Every situation is different, but if I would have listened to the mail order pharmacy, I would have had to pay $4200 oop for his shots. my email is sallypilot at msn dot com.
