1. Your child's first and middle name? Maeve Denise
2. Why did you choose those names? Any special meaning, etc.? I've always loved the name Maeve and Denise is my Mom's name
3. Who first suggested LO's name? Definitely me. It took a lot of convincing to get my H to go along with it.
4. What other names were in contention? For a girl we also really liked Claire (we were team green so we had a few names for each sex)
5. What would LO have been named if they were the other sex? Owen
6. Would you use that name now if you had a girl/boy next? No, found out it was a lot more popular than I had realized.
7. Did you run into any opposition over LO's name? No, we didn't tell anyone beforehand.  After she was born people just said they hadn't heard it before.  A co-worker called her Mauve (like the color) and my MIL asked if we were going to call her Mae (If I wanted her to be Mae, I would have named her Mae).
8. What is a naming trend that annoys you? Y and X abuse

Julia Annabelle / Asher (maiden name)

For both, first names we just liked them. Middle names are both family names,

3. Who first suggested LO's name? I think me for both. DH didn't suggest many names (except Knox)

4. What other names were in contention? For DD, she was either Julia, Julianne or Juliana... For DS he was either Asher, Gabriel or Caleb

5. What would LO have been named if they were the other sex? Other sex, DD would have been Gabriel. DS would have been Vivian

6. Would you use that name now if you had a girl/boy next?

I didn't between kids but there won't be any more kids for us

7. Did you run into any opposition over LO's name? Eh, MIL didn't like DD's middle name and I'm sure she doesn't like DS's middle name but that's low on my concern list. We also didn't tell until they were already named.

8. What is a naming trend that annoys you? Unique name spellings, random Ys in names, AIden, Brayden, Caden, etc. Or boy names becoming girl names (Cameron, Grayson, etc)

DH didn't agree to any boy names I liked and finally was "ok" with this .. so I just keep suggesting it until it grew on him And Andrew is DH's name

4. What other names were in contention? Mason (was #1 until I heard Hudson and loved it!), Caleb, Carter, Logan, Brayden (doesn't go well with our LN though..)

I doubt it ...too trendy now..

7. Did you run into any opposition over LO's name? A bit from DH until he agreed that he liked it ...my Grandma said "Oh that's interesting" when we first told her, but I think it's grown on everyone now

Prompted by talking baby names with a friend -- and wanting to avoid doing work.

1. Your child's first and middle name?  Jillian Carol and Hayden Catherine
2. Why did you choose those names? Any special meaning, etc.?  For the first names it was coincidentally the only names DH and I could agree on.  Of course, both were brought up because of actresses (Gillian Andersen and Hayden Panatierre (spelling?)).  DH and I had a G versus J argument with Jillian but I won.  The middle names are mine and my sisters.
3. Who first suggested LO's name?  DH in both cases.
4. What other names were in contention?  Fiona.
5. What would LO have been named if they were the other sex?  Logan was discussed but DH was on the fence.  So good thing we had girls.
6. Would you use that name now if you had a girl/boy next?  Maybe but we won't be finding out.
7. Did you run into any opposition over LO's name?  Not really.  Although we always joke that Hayden is the red-headed stepchild because she is the only one of us without a J name.
8. What is a naming trend that annoys you?  Using abnormal spellings.  It's impossible to figure out how to spell any kids names these days!

2. Why did you choose those names? Any special meaning, etc.?

Middle names are DH's dad (passed away) and my mom (passed away.  Elizabeth is mine, my mom and my grandmas names..   betty, betsy and beth... no way in h*ll would DH have any of that for a daughter.   I loved it with Ellie for a nn or Libby.)

we both had Gabriel on our lists from the beginning, Audrey was DH
4. What other names were in contention?

For Gabe (all w mn Evan): William, Colin, Alexander... I dont remember. He was "Gabe" pretty quickly...  Audrey had a long list of contenders, She WAS going to be Caroline Elizabeth (until my friend "asked for it back" and I couldnt in good faith use it.  then she named her baby Gwenyth (blech)), Katherine (Kate), Lilly, Lila.  She's nothing but an Audrey though... and Im so glad I blurted Gabe and Audrey when my OB walked in to check on us...
5. What would LO have been named if they were the other sex?

before we knew the sexes, we had a long list of g/g, b/g and b/b combos..  others included Josephine (Josie), Evelyn (Evie), Andrew, Ethan
6. Would you use that name now if you had a girl/boy next?

I think more likely we would use something else.   I wouldnt use Caroline..  these days I like Charlotte (Lottie), Lydia and Josie.   Alexander, Will are still big on my list.

Really, its a moot point.  I was supposed to have my IUD put back in today.  But with Auds so sick, I had to cancel, and the next appt is JULY.  Maybe it wont be moot.   haha

Did you run into any opposition over LO's name?  didnt share...  other than asking my girlfriend (who wasnt pg w #2) if Caroline was her big girls name still (had been since HS, known her since we were 4) and she said use it!  then emailed and said her hubs wanted it back.   um, yeah,...   other than bouncing a few contenders off a few close friends, everyone liked them.  Pretty traditional around these parts...

made up names...  extra letters etc.   But its your baby, name them what you love...  I just love traditional.

I?m expecting my first in August and find out the sex Friday (yay!), but still want to play along!

1. Your child's first and middle name? Kennedy Rose (f) or Aden Eugene (m)

2. Why did you choose those names? Any special meaning, etc.? The middle names are both names of grandparents.

3. Who first suggested LO's name? As a compromise I picked the girl?s first and boy?s middle, and FI picked vice versa.

4. What other names were in contention? For a boy: Archer, Alexander, Matthew

5. What would LO have been named if they were the other sex? See above

6. Would you use that name now if you had a girl/boy next? Most likely, but we?re stopping after one.

7. Did you run into any opposition over LO's name? Not opposition, just debate from family whether Kennedy is a girl name?it is, right? Either way, it?s sticking.

8. What is a naming trend that annoys you? Hollywood name trends. Ex: Edward, Bella, Jacob?

2. Why did you choose those names? Any special meaning, etc.? E's grandfather and father are both the same name, with Walter as a MN.  Gpa goes by Walter.  We always wanted Jackson until we got PG and the entire world had named their kids Jackson already. 
3. Who first suggested LO's name? It was on my list early on and never went off.  DH didn't suggest a single name but had veto power
4. What other names were in contention? Lane Michael (same MN as DH's MN)
5. What would LO have been named if they were the other sex? Elaina, Vivian, or Elanor
6. Would you use that name now if you had a girl/boy next?  If we have a girls, she'll likely be one of the above names.  Boy will not be Lane, doesn't match with Walter.

7. Did you run into any opposition over LO's name? We didn't even know so no one else knew either
8. What is a naming trend that annoys you?  "cutesy" names that don't translate well to adults.  I imagine them on a lawyers office door or as a news anchor and cringe.

2. Why did you choose those names? Any special meaning, etc.? Liked them.
3. Who first suggested LO's name? Me. I made lists and DH crossed off the ones he hated. It came down to three and I let him pick.
4. What other names were in contention? Penelope, Isla, Sloane, Charlotte, Felicity.
5. What would LO have been named if they were the other sex? Graham or Miles
6. Would you use that name now if you had a girl/boy next? Yep.
7. Did you run into any opposition over LO's name? Ehh I don't care enough. People always have opinions.
8. What is a naming trend that annoys you? Made up names or new-age trendy names. I really like old unusual names.
