This is a really newbie question, but this is DD's first respiratory bug. She got sick Friday night, lots of congestion and some coughing, mostly when she laysdown. She had a fever of 102 through Sunday, but it's now only 99 in the afternoon, normal in the morning. She coughs maybe 2-3 times an hour, but is really congested sounding and is of course worse when she's laying down.
My mom watches her for me and had her yesterday morning, and she has been on me ever since that "Brooke has asthma, that's what her cough sounds like". Now keeping in mind that my mom is a hypochondriac and overexaggerates everything, I haven't heard anything beyond just lots of congestion. Her nose is really running and it sounds like that is making her cough and rattle some when she breathes off and on. How long should this kind of cough last before calling the doctor, we're on day 4 right now?
Re: Congestion question
Thanks! This is all pretty much what I thought. She sounds horrible when she coughs, but she is so flipping congested and her nose is really running. We're running a humidifier, giving her warm baths, have her bed propped up, and trying to use the bulb when we can but she hates that thing with a passion. My mom freaks over every little thing and likes to see symptoms when they aren't there, but wanted to check before bugging the heck out of the doctor's office.
Thanks! I"m now fielding e-mails from my mom about all different things DD might have that are horrible, lol. The joys of a hypochondriac mother. who knows how to google
