NYC in May with 10 month old

Ok moms!  Need your help.  Recommend things to do in NYC with a 10 month old!

We are taking the train in and staying in the Upper West Side.  Central Park with the zoo and the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater are on my list (but is the latter going to be ok?  It doesn't give a length of the play...I want to get some theater in!).  Also have a Circle Line harbor cruise, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History (a mom with an 8 month old recommended those on a blog).

We will arrive mid afternoon on a Thursday and be leaving around noon on Sunday.  Planning on baby wearing, no stroller (I think...)

Also, places to eat!  We did not eat as exciting as we wanted to our last time in NYC and I really want to try dim sun.

And, go!  Thanks!

  • No advice (sorry!), but I'm curious to hear the responses, because I contemplated this same trip with DD this Spring (she's just about 7 months), but couldn't figure out the cab and dinner scenario since it would just be the three of us and kind of gave up. I hope some great suggestions inspire me!

  • 10 months is a good time to travel since (at least for us) the schedule was predictable and it was before DS got too mobile. Babywearing sounds like a good option. Any chance you can swing a sitter for the theater? I'm afraid that you'd be in the lobby for the show.

  • There's also the new Highline which might be a nice place to walk.  It's suppose to give a great new perspective of the city (I haven't gone yet).

Other than that, I've got nuttin!

  • DGBG is really kid friendly down on Bowery. You also MUST get this a lot of restaurants in the city don't have high chairs and this way you aren't limited anywhere. We used it with Brooks this past weekend and it was fabulous.

There is of course the Central Park and Bronx zoos, meh. Personally the playgrounds there are great especially if he's really mobile at the time. Brooks seems to really just enjoy people watching though.  But we haven't really done that in a while due to the cold.
