DD had been a total fussy mess most of last week. She was forcefully spitting up A LOT, had horrible tummy gurgling and nasty green/mucusy diapers, some of which had blood in them. She wouldn't really relax for several days.
All because I had peanut butter.
Ugh. DS2 has a peanut allergy and eating it while I BFed made him really sick. We didn't realize that was the problem until he was 6 months old and had allergy testing. Once I cut out the allergens, he was like a whole new kid.
I hadn't eaten nuts of any sort since a month or two into my third trimester. DD has been fine until this week, when I ate two pieces of peanut butter toast. That's the only thing I ate different, so I'm sure that's the problem. I feel so bad that I caused her so much pain.
It was clear that it must've worked through both our systems by yesterday because she's been like a different baby. You'd think I would have known not to eat nuts after DS2, but I thought maybe she'd escape food allergies since milk doesn't seem to give her any trouble.
Re: Total mom fail.
oh man I feel for you. I'm starting dairy/soy living a month from now in preparation for DD's birth in may. Just reading your post brings me back. I'm hoping against hope that she escapes it but chances are she won't b/c my other two had it.
glad R is doing better!

I really think cutting it out in the third trimester and until she was a few weeks old helped a ton. Per our pedi, I also took a probiotic because there's some research that indicates doing so may help babies avoid food intolerances.
DS1 had a dairy intolerance and DS2 had multiple food allergies, but DD has none of the symptoms they had if I have milk or cheese.
A probiotic is a great idea. thanks!
while I'm dreading it for all the obvious reasons I'm looking forward to it in way b/c I truly feel SO much better when I am dairy free.
Oh, I feel for you both. We did not realize that Cohen had a dairy allergy until he suffered for almost two months. It was the most frustrating two months of my life because he would not sleep. I got so frustrated with him at times, thinking he was just being stubborn, and it turns out it was all because of the dairy. Once we took him off it, he was SO different and happy again. I felt like the worst mom ever after that.
Thankfully, we know now! I hope that is all it was and Miss R goes back to her old self for good!
I think it is good you found out this early in the game, even though it wasn't fun. I gave my DD a bite of my peanut butter sandwich when she was 10 months old and she immediately had a severe reaction (swelling, itching, hives). I felt *terrible* about it.
FWIW: Our house is now peanut-free. I don't even eat peanuts when I am away from DD for an extended period of time.
Hardly a mom fail, honey.
I can't imagine how frustrating it is for you. Hang in ther.e
