MIL vent

This weekend DH and I were invited to a party on Saturday night and MIL offered to take Griffin overnight.  We have done this a few times and while it annoys the crap out of me that she won't babysit in our house, it usually turns out fine and we enjoy the time without a child to tend to.  So, saturday morning I dropped him off with her so she could take him to a family member's birthday.  They then decided to play at the park before meeting my SIL and her BF at a bar downtown to watch basketball for 2 HOURS!.  At this point its probably 5 o'clock and he has had no nap.  I'm not sure what they did for the rest of the day, but she did tell me he was watching a movie in her basement,, while she sat in her room watching her TV programs!  Um,  WTF?!?!?!  If she couldn't be bothered toplay with him or tend to his needs, why did she offer to sit for him?

Well, Sunday morning she woke him up at 6:30 to get ready for her 8 am church service.  I have no problem with her taking him to church, but when the kid is exhausted, it might not be the best thing for her to wake him up so freaking early.  Then she says they came home, ate brunch and she got him down for a nap.  But, she has been known to fudge some details in the past if she thinks we want to hear a certain outcome, so I totally don't believe he got a nap yesterday.  We met some extended family at Olive Garden for dinner last night and all he did was sit on my lap and cry!  I know my kid and he was clearly overly tired.  He ended up throwing several fits while at the restaurant and later once we got home.

I knew she was selfish, but I just don't get why she would want to babysit when it clearly interrupts her social calendar.
