Anyone have a suggestion for making a balloon dress?  I want to sew a dress that is ballooned at the bottom but am trying to figure out if there is a way to do it so that it will keep it's shape after being washed, I imagine that a cotton dress will totally crease after being washed and will just lay flat and defeat the purpose of being sewn as a balloon.  Thoughts?

The classic couture appraoch is to attach the generously gathered hem to a straight lining. Fabric selection is critical if you want it super poofy you'll need something with some stiffness, preferably with a higher poly content to avoid ironing.
