Sold for $4.6M, an almost $3M profit (in < a yr.) minus improvements.  That's a lot of IVF cycles, though last I heard they were taking a break...  I guess they live in LA now.

Reality TV star Bill Rancic, the Chicago entrepreneur, motivational speaker and real estate developer who won the first season of Donald Trump's reality show "The Apprentice," has sold his five-bedroom, 12,000-square-foot mansion in Hinsdale in a private transaction for $4.6 million.

The sale easily is the most expensive one this year in Hinsdale.

Rancic, 39, stars with wife Giuliana in the Style Network reality show "Giuliana and Bill." Late last year, the program depicted the couple spending considerable time renovating the mansion. Rancic did not use the multiple listing service to list the mansion, which he bought unfinished last April for $1.56 million.

Rancic's GDP LLC company sold the mansion in February to an executive and his wife.

Rancic told the Tribune last month that he and his wife moved into the house in November, meaning that they occupied it for just three months before selling it. Listing agent Laura Rubin of Baird & Warner declined to comment.

I don't know why but I am bummed to hear this. They put so much time and effort in that house for their future children. I just feel sad.

It is kind of sad, but IMO that house was just too big even if you are expecting a baby.  This is what he does for a living, so the business person in me says that flipping it was always his plan, as she never really liked the house.

Oh no....do you think it means no children for them? It makes me sad,too. We buit our dream home in the #1 school district in our area ( NOT a mansion ) and now we have too much house. I feel bad if she has to feel like I do. DH and I feel like fools.

Not sure of their plans, but I bet they'll try again.  I feel ya on feeling like an idiot for living in a big family house w/o kids.  It sucks...

A friend of mine works for the agency that they originally bought the house from. She said they bought the house for investment only, they never had the intention of really settling down there. Their show was a great showcase for the house $$$

It does suck! We are the only couple in the neighborhood (about 40 houses) without children except for 3 elderly couples. Hopefully, the market will come back at some point so we can get out. DH usually makes good business decisions and he takes this one particularly hard....what did we know? Damn IF!

This makes sense.  I kinda wondered why they acted like having a baby in 2BR condo would be impossible.  Um, isn't that what most people do?  It does annoy me that they felt the need to drag their viewers (a decent amt. of whom are IFers) on a manufactured for TV journey.

I had heard this same thing.

I don't know if they are going to be trying again any time soon.  I have read that she is training for the Chicago Marathon which is in October.  So maybe after that....  I wonder if they will still have their show.

I watch G&B regularly and followed the remodel on their show.  That is a bummer.
