Hi guys. Sooo, I had my first ultrasound at 14 weeks to check age of gestation. While she's scanning, I asked the tech if she see can baby's gender. Sure enough, she says it's too early. But then sometime after, she goes, "aww look, he's sucking his thumbs!"
Soo now, she has me thinking that my baby could be a boy . Then last night, I took a good look of the ultrasound picture and I realized that there's "three white lines" which should indicate a girl. Then again, some people say that their baby boy also had the three white lines. I have posted my ultrasound picture.. hoping that maybe someone here can see it (i have it circled) and if it's enough to guess my baby's gender. I'll find out on my next ultrasound, but i simply just can't wait another month! Thanks for time
Re: three white lines.
14wks is too early to tell, since things are still developing until 16wks, around 14wks they both look the same.
eta- I have a similar shot from my 14wk ultrasound and for weeks I swore it was a penis.. lol totally wrong

The fact that it is a profile shot leads me to believe one of two things - you're looking at leg bones, or foot bones (if baby has its foot curled up - like sitting tailor style). At our anatomy scan this past week, our baby was sitting tailor style for pretty much the entire thing until the very end - which made it look like there were lines by her crotch, but they were foot bones. We kept trying to get her to move, but I think she was sleeping and would have none of it. She stayed in that position for almost the entire hour. It wasn't until she wiggled to a different position at the last moment and gave us the "money shot" that we saw she was in fact, very clearly, a girl. But at 14 weeks, even if your baby is giving you a clear picture it is really difficult to tell either way.
And I agree with pp that the "he" really meant nothing. I called my baby "he" the entire time until our anatomy scan and did the same thing with DS. It just seemed more personable than "it" and because I already have a son, I'm just used to calling my babies "he." But now I have to get used to "she" as well lol!
ETA: also throughout the entire anatomy scan, the u/s tech kept saying "he" as well, even though I knew he was having trouble deciphering the sex. He would say things like, "he just won't uncross his legs!" And, "I can't get a good shot of him!" So I know the "he" had nothing to do with whether or not we were having a boy.
You can't tell from a profile shot. End of story.
She probably said "he" because she refers to all babies as "he" unless it is known he is a she.
If you can't wait a month, check to see if there are any elective 3d ultrasound placed in your area. Most will start doing sex checks at 16w. Of course, you're going to have to pay for it.
Also, I was told "boy" at 13w, and "girl" at 16w and 20w. I wouldn't trust anything earlier than 15w.
