Getting Big and Little one in their beds

Okay so with our first daughter we screwed up with the teaching her to learn to fall asleep on her own, in her own bed etc....  She is almost 5 and still cannot fall asleep on her own in her own bed without one of us laying with her, and then she comes into our bed in the middle of the night.

Now that our second daughter is outgrowing bassinet, it is time to get her to learn to sleep in her crib.  I tried it a few weeks ago and she was not having it...

 

Any words of wisdom on how to do this so that both are sleeping in their own beds?  I am so tempted to put them both in their beds and let them both cry themselves to sleep but one is mobile and the little one would probably be traumatized from hearing her big sister scream and cry    ugh!!! What do I do???
