Trying to Get Pregnant

Is Miralax safe?

As I am sure many of you are as well -- I am currently taking prenatals as I TTC.  This, of course, lead to issues in the bathroom.  I have been using Miralax to help.

I believe I O'd Thursday (just waiting on one more high temp for FF to confirm) and am just wondering if I should stop taking the Miralax until I either get a BFP or AF arrives (and if so, what does everyone else take to help ward off the issues caused by prenatals)?

  • I take one dose of Miralax daily and my RE knows this. She has never mentioned anything about it being a problem. I think you'll be fine to take it as you need it. And, as far as the prenatal problem goes, I took them for one month and then started taking only Folic Acid.

  • I checked the website and it says to ask your doctor.  I can't imagine that it would be a problem but if you're worried you can try Metmucil.  I've read in several books that it's safe to use while pregnant.  The books also say tons of fruits, veggies, and water.  HTH and good luck!
  • I'm pretty sure you can take stool softeners while pregnant too (not 100% but I vaguely remember doing this?)

This.  The generic name is Docusate Sodium. It is Pregnancy Category A or

Drugs which have been taken by a large number of pregnant women and women of childbearing age without any proven increase in the frequency of malformations or other direct or indirect harmful effects on the fetus having been observed.

As for Miralax it is pregnancy category C or

Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

    HTH!
