Can you help convince DH we need a SBS...

OR do we?  I really would LIKE to get one... I'm just having trouble convincing DH that we NEED one.  Perhaps we don't.  We have a graco duoglider and he thinks that is enough.

We don't take the girls out a whole lot YET, but I DEFINATELY plan on increasing that now that the weather is better here.  (we are working opposite hours 4 days a week and each have the girls when the other is at work)

We were just talking about how excited we are to take them to the zoo, seaworld, etc.   Neither of us runs, but I plan on walking with them daily in the evening.  I have a feeling DH will do the same in the morning too.

What do you use your SBS for?  Recommend one or not?

  • Definitely.  Now that the twins are 1.5, I'm selling our tandem and an older SBS to get a new SBS.  They hate the tandem - well actually the rider in the back hates the tandem.  It's an endless struggle making the rear rider stay seated (even harnessed in- they work their magic and wiggle out to stand up).  I'm getting a smaller SBS (more narrow) than I have.

I also have a dbl jogger or outdoor stuff (walks, baseball/soccer games, festivals) and the SBS will be my everyday stroller. I'm looking at the City Mini.  (But there are other cheaper - that are good, IMO, like the Combi twin).

  • Ditto the pp.

My girls hate the tandem for any length of time....and they are only 8 months old.  The girl in front....LOVES it.  (cuz she can see everything)....and the one stuck in back does not like it.

My tandem is handy for lugging those heavy carseats around... Dr. appts. etc.  But for anything else, I'm shopping for a SBS right now.  (I have the Bob, but only like it for running/outdoor stuff)  that's just me........

  • We have a MacClaren Twin Triumph and i love it.  My mom got it off of Craigs list.  I go to the mall and my BF support group and when the weather gets nicer I will walk with them. I love it because it is narrow enough that I can go through door ways and fits between most aisles. My babies are 2 months old and Ive used it several times.
  • DDs hated our tandem (I hated it even more for how bulky and heavy it was). I surrendered and got a SBS when they were about 10 mo. and LOVE it!!

DH was like "do we really need another stroller?!" so I did my homework and found a gently used Maclaren SBS on CL--the lady only used it on a few trips to her mother's so it was in mint condition and she sweetly sold it to me for $50!! I use this stroller everyday and love that it's light weight, it goes smoothly through the doors, and DDs love it!

GL!! Check your local CL or MoM sale if you don't want to spend the $$ on a new one.

Is there any way you could borrow one? Because I think if your DH went on one walk w/ a good SBS after using the Duoglider, he'd be sold. They're just so much easier on walks. I love my tandem and it has a very comfortable push, but a SBS is still easier just b/c it's so short. Plus when your kids are older, they'll be able to get in and out of it themselves.
  • I always use our SBS now.  I used the tandem until they were a year old (approximately) and always pulled out our SBS after that.  It is lighter weight.  I actually sold our tandem last month after not using it for a full year!

  • Thank you all sooo much.  I had DH read the thread, and he seems a little more convinced...  His first response was to ask about the different brands.  Hopefully this is a good sign!  I knew the SBS option was something we wanted, I just couldn't articulate why.   I already feel the duoglider is way too heavy, but that didn't seem like "reason" enough.  I don't think we can borrow one from anyone, although if I come up with someone, we definately will.  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
