Thanks to everyone for your kind words about my dad's problems with depression. He has decided to take an extended leave of absence from work and he and my mom are getting their things in order for him to take an early retirement (he is 58, so it's not ridiculously early, but he was planning to wait until 60 or 62). We've seen him a couple times this week and he is really enjoying relaxing and working on their house.
Additionally, the inspections on our new house are going really well so far. The house was corporate-owned by Kettering Health Network. They relocated the couple that lived there, and luckily they were very agreeable to our offer and took the first offer we put in-- and they are paying all our closing costs. So the inspections are almost done and if everything goes well, we will close on April 8! I am so excited.
Thanks to everyone for the support with my dad and with our long, long house-hunting journey.

Post pics of your new house when you get it!
Yay! Looks like things are much better your way. I did not see your OP, but my Dad had some serious depression after my mom passed away. I remember how that felt for those of us watching and trying to help. He finally retired, and is now an avid backwoods camper/hiker in the spring/summer/fall, and has his happy back. I think keeping them busy with things they love is key, and retirement is a happier place. Wishing him well!
My fingers and toes are crossed that this house is yours in the next few weeks. I saw your photo on FB, and it is a beautiful home. Lots of luck to you! Happy moving!
