Thank you for the advice yesterday!

I posted yesterday about feeling like I'm crashing and burning already.  I talked to DH and he helped out A LOT last night and I feel so much better today!  He's going back to work next week so I guess that will be the real test.  I just wanted to thank everyone who responded! :)

  • I got on late and didn't get a chance to respond - but I was thinking of you!

The shift system worked well for us too.  We talked ahead of time and committed to what we were willing to do.  We put the boys down around 7, I would go to bed at 8, Dh would be "on duty" until 2.  If we were real lucky, after Dh did the 1am feeding, they wouldn't be up until 4.  That gave both of us nice chunks of sleep.  He would signal his "shift" was over simply by putting the monitor on my side of the bed....The only caveat was that if both boys went off at once ("double bombs") then the person who was not on shift would have to getup too.

Agreeing ahead of time helped a lot!  Definitely cuts down on the middle of night resentment.

Hang in there, the first three months were soooo hard.  But it's totally worth it.  You'll see!
