Used GMD prefolds pricing?

Why are they as expensive or more than if I bought them used? I don't get it. Haven't come across any that are actually a deal by buying used.

Re: Used GMD prefolds pricing?

  • I was wondering the same thing.

I've been looking too for over a month and don't see GMD especially in the smaller sizes (preemie / newborn).

I finally bought 2 dozen new prefolds from GMD direct just to get my stash started, but I really wanted to save money by buying used.

Preemie dozen new is $15/dozen - $1.25 dipe.  Used I'd want to pay less of course.

    Newborn dozen new is $24/dozen - $2 dipe.  Used I'd pay $1/dipe.

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

  • I've been looking at diaperswappers and spots (occasionally) and they are going about $25 ppd for a dozen. I mean I get that they're prepped and all but they're STILL used. I was hoping to see a dozen for like $15 but I haven't had such luck. I think I'm just going to buy them new.

  • It's because shipping is so dang expensive for prefolds! I thought about selling some of mine a while back but the only way to do it was priority flat rate which is $11. So you could make $5 on the sale. I think most people would rather hold onto them and use them as back ups or other things for that price.

    This.

I was also considering selling mine but the shipping is not worth it.

This. I only buy/sell prefolds locally, for that reason. Unfortunately, GMD prefolds don't come up very often on my local craigslist, but I did buy 2 dozen standard infant prefolds for $12 and they worked great.
