Enemas safe??

I was never this constipated with my first. I'm on my third day of colace with nothing more than a marble sized dropping.  Was wondering if fleet enemas were safe does anyone know and should i try 3 colace tablets instead of just 2?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....sooooo uncomfortable!!!!!!!!

  • Ask your doctor.  I would think an enema would only make matters worse and I, personally, wouldn't ever consider that as an option.  You really should add some prune juice/apple juice/etc to the mix.  Like lots, and see if that helps on top of your colace.  And be sure you're getting well over 60oz of water a day (when I was at my worst with DS I would drink about 100oz of water a day.)  Once you get things moving, don't stop the colace, and life will be much better.  It's a bad problem to have, sorry you're going through it!

  • I don't know why they wouldn't be safe. It is just saline water with some KY jelly on the tip. And it wouldn't be in your body more than 5 minutes. It wouldn't make things worse, it would help you expel what is stuck. I do agree with pp, make sure you get plenty of water. I have a water bottle that measures 1 liter. I make sure I drink at least two of those if not more.

  • on internet I've heard some people say it's safe others say it's not.  Try Peri-Colace it has a mild laxative w/ softener.
