Alimentum Poo ?

We started DS on Alimentum less than a week ago.  So far he's had super runny poops.  It doesn't seem to bother him, but the blowouts happen on a daily basis and it's ruining all his clothes.  Does it get better?  Will his system adjust?  He's not on solids yet, will solids help, uh, solidify things?  What's your experience been?  Thanks!

    He was on Enfamil.

  • My DS had the same thing but we went from BM to Enfamil to Similac. And it took about 10 days for the adjustment.

     Did Enfamil not work?

I would make a call to your pedi.

  • LO has been on Nutramigen since she was 1 week old.  She still has lots and lots of blowouts b/c her poo is super runny.  I've tried different brands of diapers but she still blows out.  My pedi said that was normal.  I am hoping that solids will help.  I just do laundry every other day :)

  • green, sometimes runny, most often just very soft.  We use Target diapers and have never had a blowout.
  • DS's poo was never runny except on BM. It is green and is like peanut butter.

We took him off Enfamil (not the hypoallergenic kind) because of a suspected milk protein allergy.  Pedi suggested Alimentum and the rashes cleared up right away, yay!

Oh, I thought you meant the hypo enfamil one. If similac is not agreeing with your LO, then switch to the enfamil version. We started with the Enfamil version and it didn't work too well, so we are on the similac one now.

  • When I put one of my boys on alimentum, we exprienced the same.  Dr said it was normal and would take a bit for his body to adjust to the new formula... and it did.

    Random - that stuff STINKS!

Totally, it's so gross.  And it makes his poop smell 100x worse than before.  I'm glad to hear DS's body will likely adjust.  Thanks!
