UO thursday...

that's today right?

well mine is this... i get annoyed when people come on here and ask a question tha they could have easily googled.

there's a difference between asking a question that could've been answered with some research and asking if this is something that other people have experienced.

  • I don't like when people call their unborn child by his/her name.  For example "Look what we got for Tommy's room!" or "Jenny and I are going shopping today!"  I don't know why, but it creeps me out....your child isn't born yet!!

*disclaimer:  Totally random names and not calling anyone specific out!

definitely agree on this one... one thing i have noticed is that we're all at the same stage of getting irritated fairly easily though lol

not with each other it seems but with those IRL...

I do to.  It gives my baby an identity and makes me feel more connected to her.  She is still a person whether she has been born yet or not.

My UO: It's random.  I can't stand when people type GD for Gestational Diabetes.  I think it's because I initially think of it as slang for taking the Lord's name in vain, and that is a BIG NO NO in my house.  I guess my mom and dad just ingrained into me that you NEVER say that.  I know people aren't using it in that context, but it's still what I think of first.  I'm trying to change that thinking.

Happy mom = happy baby IMO. If it helps the tanning place uses an all natural sugar based spray. And btw, Erin T, you and I have the same name and I grew up in College Station and went to A&M. • I do not like it when people I kinda know stare at my belly.  There was a meeting in my office yesterday.  I wasn't in the meting but I knew most of the people there.  No one knows I am pregnant.  One guy saw me and stared at me.  Why didn't he just come up and ask me?  I thought it was obvious I am pregnant and not just extra fat.  The staring made me feel like a whale.  Either ask me or don't stare.

  • I'm sooo gonna get flamed for this.

Maybe it is because I am in Brazil (certain health risks change from country to country) but I (and everyone else I've spoken to about this, including docs) don't think there is anything wrong with eating sushi, tartare, all cheeses or cold cuts while pregnant. Embarrassed

I first read about the potential risks of eating them here on the bump and I was so shocked!

I avoid sugar, caffeine, and anything with preservatives, and I never drink alcohol or cola or any soft drinks, really. But I can eat a heap of sushi, an entire plate of carpaccio, and I could never give up my cheeses...

i don't listen to any radio stations where i'd have to hear it all that often... thank god for satelitte radio...

but i hate lady gaga with a passion... i have maybe heard 2 songs of hers including this last one, born this way

and i'm sorry, you're blatantly ripping off madonna. just admit it... you're not original, you're a manufactured piece of crap no matter how many ridiculous outfits you wear.

  • What happened in Japan is awful and I pray for that country and those people every day.  However, I am sick of hearing about all of the radiation that could possibly come to the United States.  Yes, radiation may reach the United States, but it won't be at a level that is harmful to anybody except the wildlife (which is really sad).  My mom has had numerous calls at her doctor's office for iodide pills to fight off radiation.  We are in freaking Michigan!  You will NOT get radiation poisoning from this disaster in Japan!

Yes totally!  I'm a Sirius snob.  But my DH actually likes pop music so sometimes I have to oblige.  :(

  • I'm so sure how well this will go over but I don't like when pregnant women (or really anyone in general) wear black from head to toe.  I know it's slimming but it's also incredibly boring and makes me wonder if you are that worried about your weight (or if you just came from a funeral).

P.S. I am at work so this is a total post and run, sorry!

While I love pop music, if I have to hear another Lady Gaga OR Britney Spears song I'll scream. Both a lousy singers who use synthesizers to make it. I've seen Gaga as an opening act for NKOTB, and she's terrible.

My own, not a vent, but I like how this board isn't a popularity contest. I'm a regular on another board and there are certain groups that just seem to run the show. It's not because they've been on the longest; it's just like hs where someone likes them for some reason and the next thing you know they're sainted.

Just thought you might like to know that Obama just announced that the US (including Hawaii) is not expected to recieve any harmful amounts of radiation from Japan. Hopefully that helps keep people from freaking out!

I don't think we'll flame ya!  I have had it a couple of times since being pregnant (it's a special occasion thing for us) and I'm having it again on my hubby's birthday.  I just don't eat a lot of the raw stuff at one time, but I trust the source.  So, I don't worry.  I also still eat my steak medium rare and have had few rare ahi tuna salads.

I've seen other posts about woman confessing to the same thing.  So you're not a lone.

  • My UO... is this. I've been down for 2 weeks with limit mobility. (As most of you know already) I am really tired already of having to put all of my patients/demands with DH. Don't get me wrong DH has been wonderful! I just don't want to put added pressure on him because he is finishing our basement so we can have more room. It is almost finished. I've been thinking about... and I am a bit ashamed to admit it because I always wanted a natural med-free birth and no induced.... but now with all this pain I am rethinking my decision of the no induced part. I read about a lot of SPD sufferers beg to be induced way before their 40 week mark because of their limited mobility. It has only been 2 weeks and I am already thinking about it!!!! Crying

  • I absolutely hate it when people get all judgy after skimming a bumpies post.  If you are going to respond especially telling them why you think what they want to do is unsafe, first make sure you read the entire post and understand what they are talking about/asking first.  This didnt happen to me but it did to another bumpie today and I see it all the time.  It drives me nuts..ok off my soap box now

I totally agree. I think it's cute but I've always been anti doing it because it's so popular.

DH likes it though. I was almost not going to but decided the hell with it. We like it so why not. lol. I wanted to do a decal but was scared it wouldn't stick to our textured walls.

  • After having been at work all day processing paperwork for families with children, I formed the following unpopular opinion: It is so annoying when parents do irritatingly unique spellings for common names. You are just begging for a lifetime of mispronunciation. Also, you picked a common name, why jazz it up when you could have picked a unique name to begin with? Also *** should never be part of your child's name (I processed a scholarship for Laqueefa today).
