Did anyone get an IUD after giving birth? If so, did your doctor say no sex?

 I thought my doctor said that if i want to get an IUD then i have to extend the "no sex" rule until it's put in... which obviously has DH a little concerned since he already has to go 6 weeks ha ha

Just use a condom before they put it in.  They give you a pregnancy test before they put it in.

Like PP said use a condom until you get it put in... I just got mine put in two days ago and we used a condom until I got it put it (only a week after the six week mark)

My doctor said no sex until it was put in. I had other complications and we had to wait longer than 6 weeks anyway, but we used a condom the week prior to it being put in.

at my checkup 6 weeks pp she told me no sex until the IUD was put it 2 weeks later
