First attempt at going for a walk w/out stroller=FAIL

So it's a gorgeous day out and I decided it would be fun to go for a short walk with the boys to let them explore enjoy being outside without being confined to their stroller. Well, they have very different going for a walk styles. Joey wanted to just take off and Henry wanted to take his time and to examine every single stone and stick that he came across. Then at one point Henry turned around and headed in the opposite direction. It was exhausting! Don't know if I'll do that again by myself. I was telling a friend about it, and she was like, "why didn't you just have them hold hands?" Ummm, yeah...YOU try getting 14 month olds who are just learning to walk to hold hands!! :)

  • We tried it the other day with our 18 month olds - we even used the backpack leashes - and it was so hard.  And that was with BOTH my husband and I.  I love having twins, but it's hard to feel trapped inside or stuck using the stroller all the time!

    Agreed!

  • LOL. Walking with DS (21 months) is hard enough! I can't imagine 2. Or 3. And the holding hands comment is hysterical :)

  • I can't imagine!  Sounds stressful.  Do you have a wagon?  That might be a nice compromise betweek stroller and full freedom.  Good luck!
  • Do you have a wagon. I used to put my girls in the wagon and would walk them to the local park and then I would let them run loose (so to speak) in the big park grass area. If one took off, I could go and catch her and get back to the other one before she got to far because they were in the middle of a big grassy area and it would take them a while to get near any road. Mine loved being in the wagon together and it had cup holder for their sippys which was a great place to put them when they were walking/running at the park, I didn't have to hold them.

Sadly, I think we are almost done with our wagon. I will probably keep it around for this summer and Halloween, but after that I don't see them riding in it much longer.
